Who Framed The Cat? – 3D Animation

My 3D animation project for Orita.Sinclair in June. It was the first time I ever made a 3D animation or touched a 3D program in my life, so I’m pretty happy with the results. It’s a lot more work than you might realize. The final render for this 2 minute piece took about 290 hours, and that was after I tried to save some time to submit it by the due date. There are definitely some noticeable mistakes, but all things considered, I’m quite pleased with it. Created using Lightwave.

KeyRider Vol. 1 – Flash Game

I made a little edutainmental (?) game for my final student project at Orita.Sinclair. I absolutely love this piece despite some complaints from people about it being too hard. It’s an edutainmental typing game influenced by those Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Heroes, Beatmania music-based games that I grew up with. It’s a combination of music, flash, video and interactivity that tests your typing skills while promoting my remix album. It’s probably my first project that completely exemplifies who I am.

People I know who can type very well, love this game. People I know who suck at typing, say it’s too hard. I’m planning on releasing KeyRider 2 that addresses this issue and showcases the final 8 tracks I have planned for the album. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out the video demo of the game and then download a version to play it! The premise is to teach people how to type without looking at the keyboard.

Looking for a Job

Since I’ve graduated from my New Media Art course, I’ve been just meticulously putting together my portfolio for potential employers. I finished making a flash portfolio that showcases 10 works that accurately portray what I bring to the table creatively. Everything is done and being printed professionally as I write.

The portfolio consists of: DVD with flash projector presentation, offline booklet, cover letter, resume, business cards.

I hope to be able to land a job here in Singapore, so I’ll be sending these babies out to the top international creative companies here that I am aware of. I hope to be doing something that can channel all my creative skills towards mobile content development, entertainment, or broadcast.

(edit: as of now, this portfolio and design is outdated)

Rise Above – Video

My video project for Orita.Sinclair. Probably the most tedious student project I’ve ever done. It was a frame-by-frame keying out of all the Davadrian’s. I edited the final scene for 2 days, working on it for 42 hours.

There was thorough planning involved in the pre-production, production, and post-production of this video. If you consider that I shot the entire film with only one camera (all those cuts had to be choreographed, weather had to be similar, both good and bad Davadrian’s had to be shot multiple times doing the same thing, etc), I think it becomes more impressive.

I also ended up partially tearing a tendon in my ankle in an unrelated basketball incident that really prohibited me from moving the way I like; so much that I ended up rewriting the script. The concept is ’sometimes the biggest obstacle to overcome is yourself’. Shout-out to Priyo and Ronald who helped me frame the camera while I was “acting” and toss the ball when and where I needed it.
