Musiq Soulchild Bopping to Harus Bagaimana!

Received some BIG news from Cas today…

Without a doubt, my favorite artist of all-time is Musiq Soulchild.

I’ve loved his style of music ever since I first listened to his track “Just Friends (Sunny)”. At the time, neo-soul was brand new and fresh, and that one track got me into the genre that introduced me to Maxwell, D’Angelo, Dwele, etc… Anyways, Musiq came to Jakarta this month for the Soulnation Festival. As it just happens, Cas ended up meeting him. The following is an excerpt from our Blackberry Messenger chat:

Musiq is the only dude in my music collection that I own EVERY SINGLE album he’s ever put out, even Christmas albums. I know this is not that much, and maybe he was just being nice, but it’s a start. Even though I’ve had quite the career at age 24, this is by far my most memorable moment, and I hope this pace keeps up.

My FAVORITE ARTIST OF ALL-TIME was bopping his head to MY SONG and was looking to buy the CD… How many people in the WORLD get to brag about that?

And if you haven’t heard it, here’s the making of Harus Bagaimana.

A Phuket Wish

Went to Phuket with my girlfriend and celebrated our anniversary by sending a lantern to the sky. We wrote notes for each other, blessings for our loved ones, and prayers for those no longer with us.

This is a poetic video of us sending a lantern to the sky. Check it out.

Cas – Denganmu *Update*

As some of you know, I just had two tracks released on the Cas debut RnB album in Indonesia. It’s been doing well, hitting number one on the radio.

I was just recently informed by the artist that I got the 2nd video single, so I’ll be flying to JKT whenever they are shooting it this year or early next. Click here to see the 1st video. Click here to see the making of my song.

Anyways, my girlfriend just went to Jakarta to get the album for me, but it was SOLD OUT at Taman Anggrek! What’s more, when I did a search for the album online (for the album cover, I swear), I got a few mediafire sites sharing MY song. That’s pretty cool, but so wrong at the same time – especially for an asian RnB artist, and an asian RnB producer.

If you ever do come across it in stores, please pick it up. Here is the album cover photo courtesy of Cas, so you can quickly identify it and not have to resort to sneaking it online.

A Blast From The Past…

Recently, I lost 400GB of my music and projects because of an HD crash.

This week, my brother flew to Singapore from New York and brought with him his music library which included a ton of my old tracks; many of which I had completely forgotten about. One of those old tracks was this remix sampler of my very first album when I was purely a Rap music producer. I remember it was around this time that producing started to click for me and I thought I should start taking it more seriously. I started to gain a bit of recognition around the net and then started moving offline, which for some reason I got more RnB work.

I can’t remember what the names of the songs are, but the lineup goes: Young Buck, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Lloyd Banks, Fat Joe, Xzibit, David Banner

It was only around 2006 that I started concentrating more on RnB. To hear my RnB work, check out my Ice Box remix.

Just for kicks, this is how my production setup has looked throughout the years:

2003 – New York. Mannn, I had no business having that much music gear.

Happy Birthday Andung!

For my grandma’s 79th birthday, all her grand children decided to make a short video for her since we’re all scattered around the world and don’t get to see her often. Mine was about how she may be turning 79, but hasn’t lived half the life experiences I’ve lived at age 24.

I did a bit of visual fx work, did my Cinta Laura indonesian impression, and played a happy birthday song on the piano for her.
